Join your fellow DCH members and their families as we enjoy a day at Brazos Bend State Park!  This beautiful nature area is a short drive from Houston and provides a unique opportunity to see the abundant wildlife in the area, including many alligators!  Other activities at the park include camping, picnicking, hiking, biking, horseback riding and fishing.  The Nature Center houses exhibits pertaining to the three major ecosystems in the park.

The park is approximately a one-hour drive from downtown Houston. Take Highway 59 South to the Crabb River Road exit. You may also take State Highway 288 south to FM 1462 West. Follow FM 1462 to FM 762 North. If traveling from south of the park, follow State Highway 288 North to the FM 1462 exit or take State Highway 36 to FM 1462 East. All routes are marked with brown signs to guide you.

We have reserved the covered pavilion at the Elm Lake picnic area.  The pavilion has water, electricity, BBQ pit, picnic tables, and access to restrooms.  Pets are allowed, but must be kept on a 6-foot leash; proof of current vaccinations (tags or paper record) for each pet entering the park must be provided.

There is a lot to do at Brazos Bend - nature trails, hike & bike trails, birdwatching, fishing, playgrounds, and alligators!  Visitors are cautioned to pay due respect to alligators, which are numerous in some areas of the park.

Please bring a picnic lunch to enjoy while you are at the park.  Cost to enter the park is $7/adult, children 12 and under are free.  RSVP is required by 27 March.

Bookings no longer allowed on this date.
