Museum of Danish America – Exhibit Reception

Combined Arms

May 2, 2018
05:00 PM

The Museum of Danish America is inviting all Houston area Danes to a reception for the viewing of their traveling exhibit "Denmark - America's Smallest and Biggest Ally" on May 2nd, beginning at 5:00 p.m.

For over two centuries, Denmark and the United States have shared an uninterrupted diplomatic relationship. Though each nation has experienced dramatic change during that time, they have maintained an open communication about shared interests and concerns.

This exhibition explores the relationship between Denmark and the United States on an individual and national level, especially in the years since 1917, when the Danish West Indies became the U.S. Virgin Islands. Since then, Danish and American forces have cooperated around the world from Greenland to the Middle East.

This exhibit tells the stories of Danish Americans in U.S. armed forces to stories of current Danish active duty military and veterans, and in this way seeks to raise awareness and interest in the many ways that two nations can relate to one another.
