Buffalo Bayou Historical Tour
May 9, 2020
See Houston from a whole new angle on Buffalo Bayou! Buffalo Bayou Partnership’s pontoon tour boat, Spirit of the Bayou, will take 21 guests on a private 1½ hour ride through the heart of downtown along historic Buffalo Bayou past Allen’s Landing, Sesquicentennial Park and Sabine Promenade, historic McKee Street Bridge, and the industrial side of our city. The trip will be narrated by a historian from the Buffalo Bayou Partnership. Open to ages 4 and up. The tour will begin at 2:30 p.m., so please plan to arrive no later than 2:00. Member price is $35 per person and on-member price is $45 pe person; seating is limited. We will provide beverages on board, and anyone interested might also want to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy before the tour.
The boat departs from the boat dock at Championship Park (1001 Wood Street, 77002, around the corner from Allen's Landing and the UHD main campus between San Jacinto and Main Street). There is metered parking on Wood Street and under I-10, and there is a large parking lot at 325 Main Street (77002) that is a 5 minute walk from the dock.
To access the area, you will need to go through the 1001 UHD parking lot (very small lot of approximately 10 spaces) and walk along the concrete trails to your left - you will see very large steps leading down to the water. Follow these steps to meet the boat at the bayou's edge.
Any changes in the boat's location or cancellation due to waterway- or weather-related reasons will be communicated as early as possible, so please be sure to include your email and mobile number when you RSVP.
RSVP is required by May 1st.
